Day 28 of the Apocalypse, Ground Zero, Gerton, NC pop. 231
I had no idea when I married Jeff that we would live through a pandemic, an apocalypse, and multiple hard deaths in the first 5 years of our relationship.
There is no one I would rather be married to when shit gets real, y’all.
Jeff could have spent the last four weeks just focused on the needs of our family, but instead he immediately began raising funds, coordinating supply deliveries for our community, and became the hub of communication for Gerton through his Facebook group, We are Gerton, NC.
He did all of this while taking care of us and our immediate neighbors, and also cooking dinner every night for me and our neighbors. He’s up at 7 am, and doesn’t go to bed until 1 or 2 am most nights, ensuring that everyone has what they need.
Despite the cause, it has been an honor and a privilege seeing my husband in action in this way.
